Only three things in life are certain: death, taxes, and job searches in January.
Fresh from a relaxing holiday and New Year, job seekers eagerly flock to their computers to fulfill their dreams and begin their search anew. And this year was no exception.
According to comScore's latest figures, traffic to job search sites grew 27 percent in January to 24.2 million visitors.
Indeed grabbed the most traffic, with with 13.7 million visitors (up 33 percent).
CareerBuilder came in second with 9.8 million (up 27 percent), and Monster was third with 5 million (up 28 percent)
SimplyHired followed the pack with 3.5 million. It also marked a time of big growth for the job search engine, which was up 42 percent, the most of all the job search sites.
“In January, the average U.S. Internet user spent a record 36 hours online, reflecting the growing importance of digital media to Americans’ daily lives,” said Jeff Hackett, executive vice president of comScore. “Among the biggest category gainers in this heavy month of Internet usage were Travel and Career sites, which posted double-digit gains, and of course Tax sites as the non-procrastinators among us decided to get an early jump on getting their refunds.”
